Mr. Do Minh Tu is a Vietnamese-qualified lawyer and barrister having extensive experience of more than 17 years and handling many wet work cases. He has assisted clients in a variety of sectors such as commercial, aviation and shipping, insurance, re-insurance, marine and international trade, and all forms of dispute resolution.

Mr. Tu has been appointed as the Deputy Head of the Aviation & Shipping Team of ANHISA. He and his team are very active in wet work and aviation incident cases. In the 1st half of 2020, he handled 4 allision cases and led the team to handle various collision cases around the major seaports of Vietnam including cruise and fishing boat incidents. His team has assisted various clients in cargo claims and commercial disputes before the local courts, arbitration or through negotiation. – Assisting 4 shipowners and their IG P&I Clubs and H&M underwriters on 4 allision cases that happened in the North, the Central, and the South waters of Vietnam;
– Assisting a local shipowner and P&I Club on a serious incident where the ship was sunken, more than 280 containers fell out and many activities were required to prevent oil pollution remove the shipwreck, and recovery containers and cargo.
– Assisting a jetty owner on an allision case with the claim of 9.1M. The case is now under the court’s procedures.- Advising a foreign underwriter to claim cargo damages against a local airline.
– Advising a local crew family to claim UK parties in an aviation incident case.
– Assisting a foreign shipowner, P&I Club, and the hull underwriters to negotiate and settle a claim of 9 million USD after the ship collided with a sea port in the North of Vietnam.
– Successfully releasing the ship from the arrest order after the incident and waiting for the repair of the allegedly damaged jetty which is under bidding procedures.
– Assisted a foreign charterer in arresting a ship in Hai Phong Court to secure their claims against the shipowner.
– Assisted a shipowner & P&I Club to release a ship arrested under in rem action of two local cargo owners;
– Assisted two international banks to acquire their ships from a local shipyard that was going to be involved in winding up procedures.
– Acted as the barrister to protect various airline managers and shipowners before the local courts and arbitral tribunals against the local claimants and respondents on aviation and shipping disputes.
